The EC6 is a 5-door, 5-seater crossover SUV with a sloping rear part of the roof. It is a "crossover coupe" counterpart to the more boxy ES6. It is going to be offered with an option for a 100-kWh battery, larger than currently available on the ES6.
As of February 2020, the manufacturer is accepting deposits for the car only from mainland China.
The EC6 is going to have "essentially the same all-wheel drive powertrain than the heavier ES6".
In the low-end version it will provide 320 kW (429 hp), translating into a 0-100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds. This version uses permanent magnet motors in both the front and the rear.
In the high-end version it will provide 400 kW (536 hp), translating into a 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds. This version uses a permanent magnet motor in the front and an induction motor in the rear.
It is going to be available with two lithium-ion battery pack options: 70 kWh or 100 kWh.
NIO claims that the car comes with the largest panoramic sunroof "in its class".
